DOCs needed for shipping from China to Australia

Hello, this is Robert from DAKA Transport. Our company specialize in shipping from China to Australia by sea and air.

Today, we talk about docs needed for shipping from China to Australia.

We need docs in three phases.
1. Docs for Chinese customs clearance
2. Docs for international shipping
3. Docs for Australian customs clearance

1. Docs needed for China customs

  • Commercial invoice and Packing list
  • Chinese customs declaration form

We need commercial invoice and packing list for Chinese customs clearance which are usually provided by your Chinese factory. We use these doc to tell Chinese customs what are the products, how many of them and how much is the cargo value etc, which are very important docs needed for shipping.

Secondly we need to know production process/ material/usage/place of origin to fill a Chinese customs declaration form. This form is usually to be filled by your shipping agent like DAKA International Transport Company based on the information provided by your Chinese factory.

For some products we may need other special permit or quarantine certificate for Chinese customs clearance. For example, when we you import fruits we need Phytosanitary Certificate for Chinese customs, which is also part of the docs needed for shipping.

2. Docs needed for international shipping

  • Booking form

We need to fill a booking form required by vessel owner or airline company so that we can get sea or air international shipping space.

In the booking form we need to show what are the products and how many and which vessel/airline you need to book for shipping from China to Australia.

If the products contain battery or chemicals or some other dangerous items, we also need to provide MSDS and Safety Transport Report so that vessel owner or airline company can decide if the products can be shipped under international shipping regulations.

3. Below are the docs needed for Australian customs clearance for usual products

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Bill of lading
  • Packaging declaration
  • FTA certificate

Commercial invoice and packing list are provided by your Chinese factory for Australian customs clearance and are also key docs needed for shipping.

Bill of lading will be provided by the shipping company like DAKA International Transport Company for international shipping and Australian customs procedures.

Packaging declaration is used to declare that the packages of your products are legal and without biosecurity risk.

FTA certificate is also named as COO certificate. As China and Australia signed free trade agreement, FTA certificate can help consignee enjoy duty concession in Australia when handling Australian customs clearance for shipping from China to Australia.

Besides some other special docs may be required for shipping from China to Australia. For example, if the products or packaging include raw wood, we need fumigation certificate for AU customs clearance. When we import vehicles from China to Australia, we need a vehicle import permit from AU government for Australian customs approval.
